While I agree with everything you have written here, including the foundational untruths used for public justification, the knock-on effects of the disastrous mismanagement of post-Saddam Iraq, and the difficulties still in place for the country - there remains the sticky question of what if Saddam were left in power, or passed it on to his psychotic sons? Would the people of Iraq be better off if left in the original situation? Perhaps not today, but in another 10 or 20 years could we see the original thinking (allowing the people of Iraq to form their own nation and government) to have been the better of two terrible options?
