Manny I'm afraid you may not like what I'm about to say - but I ask you to listen, please. I've spent a vast amount of time over the past 20 years studying the 'war on terror' to an almost nutty level of detail. Want to know how the Iraqi civil wars started? Pull up a chair, I can riff for hours and every word is true. Syria? I'm your fact source. Yemen? Same. Afghanistan? Well I think you get the picture.

What's happening right now in the US from far-right groups is nothing like any of that - but it could be, and if we keep talking like you are, it will be. Insurgencies rely on a narrative to recruit and inflame followers/fighters. That narrative almost always relies on an oppression ideology, with attached grievances. Much of that narrative is based on lies or distortion of truth, and I'm afraid that's right there in your article. The Jan 6th invasion of the Capitol building 'caused the deaths of several police officers' is one such distortion of truth. One police officer died - from two strokes the next day, according to the medical examiner. 4 other people died, from medical conditions, or the one person shot. You also frame it as a 'terrorist attack' when none of the trespassers were armed, and the only person deliberately killed violently on the day was an unarmed female Air Force veteran. The name of the officer responsible for her death is unable to be known, nor whether any proper investigation of the circumstances have even happened. The 'kidnap plot' turns out most of those arrested either worked for or were agents of the FBI. The armed protests at various state capitals were peaceful, if ominous. All the other incidents you describe are around unarmed troublemakers who have tenuous if any ties to these groups. It's worth noting all of them were arrested and prosecuted by a presumably operative and efficient law and justice system. You speak of things like a 'private militia' operating at 45's behest. You also outright call him a neo-fascist. Okay then why was there a totally peaceful transfer of power (apart from the Jan 6 incident)?

But here's my main point: If this narrative continues, the end result will be a 'crackdown' to 'protect democracy' that will in fact destroy it in the process. If de-fanging right wing 'militias' requires challenge to the second amendment (we're already seeing this) then you absolutely WILL, at that point, create a very dangerous armed violent insurgency - that will also undo democracy. Check yourself.
